day 8: here comes another one of the great days!

the start of day eight.

lovely, peaceful morning. wake with sun approximatley 6:15 am (7:15 EST)






claire had a HOT fever all night long. hoping she wakes up miraculously better because we have plans for the day. no lounging like yesterday.

around 8:30 we head out, all packed up to start our day with the national park service water's edge hike program at Leinster Bay



























11:00ish the kids had a great time exploring the ocean. graham of course charmed the other guests that had joined up by showing up the naturalist with additional ocean life facts.

head to lunch and to the NPS headquarters in the main town area of the island-Cruz Bay












1:00 Head back to the east end of the island to hike to Waterlemon Bay. Arrive, park and hike the short one mile (that felt like 10 with the kids) hike to waterlemon. Plan is to snorkle lots and build sandcastles. Claire still not feeling well.


























and while me and the girls continued to play in the sand.

He got out of the water and exclaimed that "I am NEVER washing the hand again that touched the turtle!" For some it is famous people or politicians for him it is an animal.










After enjoying the last of the sun, we hiked back to the car. Just a note, but while carrying sick Claire and lots of beach stuff we really didn't need, the hike required some pilates breathing and ended with atrophied (is that a word) muscles. BUT, it was all worth it to see the joy on his face that came from meeting a sea turtle.

We ended the day with this.
