Goals for today:
Get medicine
Explore new beaches
Soak up the sun
So instead of heading to the pharmacy for just Graham, I threw in the flag for myself as well. The sore throat and headache I have been fighting the last couple of days has turned into raw infected blisters all down the back of my throat. And, even though I am not feeling top notch, the warm breeze, blue skies and bright sun certainly keep the smile on my face! Because the medicine isn't due to arrive until mid day, we decided to head in the direction of the pharmacy and hang out on a beach first. We landed at Hawksnest Bay! Hawksnest Bay was slightly more populated than Salt Pond Bay but still loads of room to run and play all by ourselves. The girls and I made sand hopscotch. We built sand castles. We layed out on towels and "sun burned" per Ella's request. Graham searched for sea animals and crabs. After a couple of hours at the beach we packed up to head to Chelsea's pharmacy in Cruz Bay. We decided to stop for some groceries as well and went right into the Star Fish Market. Talk about STICKER SHOCK! Strawberries were $12.00. A loaf of French Bread-$6.00. Bacon--$9.00. After getting groceries, snacking for the kids, and the much needed medicine we headed back across the island. The golden afternoon light streaming in from the seashore was too much to resist. One last beach stop at Trunk Bay! It was late afternoon at this point and most beach goers had already left for the day! We bathed ourselves in the golden light and enjoyed an end of day swim in the ocean. Tons of fish swarmed around our feet! Claire wasn't so sure about getting "bit by a fish" and retreated to the safety of her (sand) castle pronto! After another stay on the beach we headed back to Concordia to fix a simple dinner and to watch the sun set from our tent. Bliss.
