number seven. What I'm in charge of...

Number Seven.

So Ella got a "beautiful" Cinderella doll on the trip to the cottage. It had long silky hair. It was so "special" to Ella.
Well Ella decided that she had to many tangles in her hair and had to take drastic measures. So out came the scissors from Grandma's stash of art stuff she had stocked in the cottage. It had been some time since we had heard Ella's self. Eric said "Where's Ella?" And then we heard her hiding in the corner of the cottage, under the table. Chopping away. I knew it wouldn't end in a good way, but Eric immediately said "It's your doll. You can cut it if you want." So Ella fashioned away at it throughout the day.

When she caught my doubting eye she grandly informed me that
"Daddy told me I'm in charge of my doll so I can cut it if I want..."
she continued "Yes, daddy's in charge of ME and I'm in charge of my cinderella!"
I replied "Alright Ella, so daddy's in charge of you." "So what am *I* in charge of?"
Not a second went by. "You, you are in charge of the dishes!"

Where did this sexist idea come from?? I must remember to fix that viewpoint just a tad.

So by evening, tears errupted when a now nearly bald doll became Claire's special doll. Aparently Graham had decided to show her how to cut hair and chopped off a bit too much. I thought the valuable lesson had been learned and NO more cutting would occur. Boy was I wrong, first Ella cut her skirt into flaps. Then I noticed that Ella had layers. Apparently her hair had tangles too. And a girl just can't have tangles. I decided it was time to invest in some detangler--lots of it. I also decided it was time for a haircut myself and asked at the corner bait store when on earth a girl gets her hair done in this neck of the woods.

You can't beat real life continuing while your relaxing at the cottage. Hopefully, it went a bit better than if we were back home not quite as relaxed. No matter it is defintely making our list of trip memories.

That doll does need a good trimming doesn't it?

Who's in charge??
