A friend sent me a link to your photo site, and I found your blog from there... I'm a new mom too - our Elaina Grace is 7 mos now - and I've taken so many photos of her that her complexion is pasty white from chronic flash exposure :). In regards to your "favorites" blog ... some absolute winners for infancy through 5 are:
"You are My I Love You"
"Miss Spider's Tea Party"
Anything in the "Shiny, touchy, smelly" series
"Quiet Time With Cassatt"
Also, I stumbled upon an AMAZING kinda-folky musician (Elizabeth Mitchell) who has a new cd called "you are my little bird". It is the best anytime music - my daughter is infatuated with every song, as am I. Not your typical sing-songey rhymy kids cd at all.
And finally, my all-time favorite mommy books: "grace-based parenting" and "the three martini playdate". (We live in Zionsville/West Carmel and are dedicated anti-suburbanites too... "three martini..." will help you keep your sense of humor when you live north of 96th street and encounter yuppiness at every turn!
our own family blog is at www.xanga.com/thesiegmann where photos and video galore of our own chiclette abound. i definitely get inspiration from many of your shots from your blog!
Have a good one... regards, Caroline Siegmann
oops! Our blog is at: www.xanga.com/thesiegmanns - I just posted a new video of her learning to say "please" ... HAPPY PROUD PERFECT moment that makes all those chaos moments worth it!!! wishing you the same... - C
I love Knuffle Bunny - great combination of illustrations and black and white photos. Plus, I can totally relate to the looks on the parents face when they realize what happened to Knuffle Bunny.
Guess How Much I Love You is another favorite.
Then, there is Walter the Farting Dog. I think that Graham would get a huge kick out of that one. Maddie does.
We LOVE Knuffle Bunny!
Actually, love most of Mo Williams' books. He has a new one about a dinosaur out that I'd like to get.
We are fairy tale lovers here. anything put out by Marianna Meyer or K.Y. Craft never fail to warm my heart.
Also HUGE fan of Mama Do You Love Me me and the newer Papa Do You Love.
Miss Spider is popular here and the bright guache illustrations of David Kirk are sometimes just what you need and we can never get enough of almost ALL Tomie De Poala and Paul Goble. the iconic timeless nature of the illustrations and stories seem to invite the imagination. Very little perspective or license just beauty.
For chapter books Ava is CRAZY for Pippi Longstocking and both girls love roald Dahl with Bella being a HUGE fan of Matilda. JM Barrie and Peter Pan always a hit the firs tWizard of Oz books were (a suprise to me) were loved accross the boar and the little house series particularly Little House in the Big Woods and Farmer Boy.
this is getting long more aqnother time......
