zero to chaos in 8.6 seconds

"Ella! Claire's crying right now so you're not allowed too!"
It just came out of my mouth.
Seems logical to me. Afteralll, there is only one of me so no use crying
if I'm already involved with another one needing me. I'm questioning the
way it works around here. Option one is everything is peaceful, running
smoothly, happiness all around (you can almost hear the birds singing and
a brook babbling) or option two which is chaos. Complete and utter chaos.
Spit up, at least two kids crying, everyone needing something--food,
a missing sock, a capture of a lost pet frog, the dryer buzzing, the phone ringing.
Not one square inch of silence.
Today, just when I think it's safe to savor a moment of peace option two
comes slamming into place. A deep breath later, I wonder
when is Eric going to be home??
Enough of the pondering, the bouncing of Claire on my knee
isn't keeping her happy anymore and it sounds like Graham and Ella
are at war upstairs.
