So what about this submarine drawing??
What about it?
Well, it just so happens that we visited the children's museum today. It was a nice break in the day and well turned out much better then the other option--Chuckie Cheese. Pizza and games with a side of germs and dirt--not a fan. When we arrived, we of course, headed down to the Dinosphere first which is a favorite for both my kids. From there we wandered into the new Chihuly display. It really is truly a magnificent art form. The kids made their own glass sculptures out of plastic blown glass pieces. After a few trips to the bathroom, drinking fountains and hand stamping station we headed upstairs to the Magic School Bus exhibit. This is where we heard the announcement over the museum intercom. The one that spurred me to call Eric so he wouldn't miss the moment. Join us at the Glass Roadshow to see Graham Anderson's Submarine created into a glass sculpture. I wasn't sure I had heard right. But sure enough I had! Earlier we had stopped on the way to the Magic School Bus to imagine and draw a picture of something you would like to see as a glass sculpture. They then look through the pile of artist's submission and pick one to use as a guide for a glass sculpture. Graham usually isn't too much into such activities. But for today, he paused and claimed he was going to draw a submarine. And, he did, one that we can't wait to see proudly on permanent display come June in the Children's Museum. By the way, if you wonder why he chose a sub--he said it reminded him of his vacation in Vieques. Hmmm....plane, taxi, smaller plane, ferry, jeep, maybe even a horse....but no submarine, not even a yellow one in Vieques.

Wow!
Congrats Graham! That is too cool! We watched them make a dolphin on Monday and that was really cool.
Where did they have the papers to draw your ideas on? We didn't see any of those when we were there on Monday. I know Kaylee would love to draw something for them.
I love your drawing Graham! How exciting to see it made into a glass sculpture! That's way cool!
